Difference in the World

Some celebrities, like Matt Damon and Jennifer Lopez, are using their platform to change the world for the better. Here are 5 celebrities making a difference in the world by Yonah Ghermezian.

1. Matt Damon

Matt Damon is a celebrity making a difference and has dedicated his life to providing people with access to the most basic of necessities: clean water. Along with Gary White, he founded H2O Africa in 2006, a charity that works towards this goal by installing filtration systems for schools around Accra Ghana. It was not until 2009 when they realized there was too much distance between them—both physically as well culturally-and so decided on merging forces; forming WaterParteners International today where we continue our work striving toward global equality through safe drinking sources.

“The facts on this organization’s website are disturbingly relevant to our world today. They show that 1 in 10 people do not have access to safe water, and more than three million women spend 125 million hours each day gathering it for their families from wherever they can find some sourceable fresh spring or rain spoil around them sometimes even after walking many miles through difficult terrain,” added Yonah Ghermezian.

The Show Me Campaign is making great strides in America by focusing on two primary goals – providing every child with quality education and tackling the related issues of mass incarceration, also known as “the pipeline.” The organization promotes giving support to people exiting prison systems that want to reintegrate back into society.
